Fat Bear Week 2024 is a world famous event. It is currently underway at Katmai National Park in Alaska United States of America. This annual event, which celebrates the brown bears’ ability to fatten up for hibernation will began on October 2 and runs until October 8.

Moreover, Fans from around the world can vote on their favourite bears based on how much weight they’ve gained, with the winner crowned on October 8. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the event, which started in 2014, and last year saw nearly 1.4 million votes cast globally.

However, the 2024 edition had a somber start. The initial kickoff was delayed due to a tragic incident where one bear, identified as Bear 469, fatally attacked another, Bear 402, during a fight or confront at the part that was also captured.

This incident highlighted the often brutal realities of survival in the wild, particularly during the season when bears compete for food before hibernation. Despite the delay, the competition has resumed, and voting is now live for this year’s “fattest bear”​
