Discovery of Petra Jordan Tombs – Few days back a recent discovery is made in Jordan where underground tombs have been discovered. IN the deep surface, a monument etched onto Pink sandstone canyons eons ago is discovered.

According to the Discovery team, almost dozens Nabateans are unearthed.

 Since the passing of thousands of years as Nabataean Kingdom first of all discovered and carved the entire city that also includes Treasury by hand in Petra. Since then the place is a Centre of attraction for the tourists. It is also used as a film location in 1989 film “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Discovery of Petra Jordan Tombs and Tomb Styles

  1. Nabatean Influence: The tombs in Petra reflect the Nabatean architectural style, characterized by intricate carvings and facades, often with Hellenistic and Roman influences.
  2. Facades: The most famous tombs, like Al-Khazneh i.e. (The Treasury) and Al-Deir i.e. (The Monastery), showcase grand facades with ornate decorations.

Types of Tombs

  1. Royal Tombs: These were designed for nobility and wealthy individuals. Notable examples include the Urn Tomb, the Silk Tomb, and the Corinthian Tomb, each with unique features and designs.
  2. Simple Tombs: Many smaller, less ornate tombs were used for common people, typically featuring simpler designs and fewer decorations.
