Services Chief Tenue is Extended upto 5 Years. – On Monday 4th of November 2024, the Lower House of Pakistan has passed the bill to entend the tenure of all three services cheifs of Pakistan forces. Such as , Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Naval Staff, and Chief of Air Staff.

Previously, the tenure of these three posts were of three (03) years. In a hurry move of PML (N) and other allied members of treasury benches adopted the bill for amendment of Pakistan Army Act 1952.
This bill will in fact bring the amendment in all three acts of Pakisstan military forces i.e. Pakistan Army Act, 1952, The Pakistan Navy Ordinance, 1961 and The Pakistan Air Force Act, 1953.
Who Presented Services Chief Tenue Extension Bill?
Khawaja Asif the Defence Minister of Pakistan has presendted the bill to Lower House of Pakistan and adopted the bill with the help of majority member of PML (N) and other allied members from treasury benches.

Services of Services Chief in Pakistan
- Chief of Army Staff (COAS): First of all, General Asim Munir has held this position since November 29, 2022. His tenure typically spans three years, making his expected service end date November 2025, barring any extensions or changes. But due to the passing of new amendment the tenure of new Army cheif may extend upto 5 years.
- Chief of Naval Staff (CNS): Secondly, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi assumed command on October 7, 2020. His tenure was extended in 2023, allowing him to continue leading the Pakistan Navy until October 2024, when he is expected to retire.
- Chief of Air Staff (CAS): Thirdly, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu took over on March 18, 2021. His service was extended for an additional year in March 2024, likely concluding his tenure in March 2025.
- Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC): This post in Pakistan Military is also of very important in its nature. General Sahir Shamshad Mirza has been the CJCSC since November 27, 2022. His tenure, typically lasting three years, should extend to November 2025.
